The passing of Neale Daniher AO is a devastating loss.
We express our deepest sympathies and condolences to Jan and the Daniher Family, and all of Neale’s loved ones. MND Victoria, and the MND community, join them in their grief, and thank them for all they’ve done as a family.
It is natural that many people will feel a sense of grief and loss at this news, even if they have never met Neale personally. Grief and loss are felt whenever someone you feel connected to dies, and Neale was certainly an inspiration to many.
After being diagnosed in 2013, Neale’s efforts to raise awareness, fundraise for research, and fight against MND every day has been extraordinary. Today, there are over 2,700 people with MND in Australia, and Neale has indirectly helped each of them—from funding research that’s supported treatments and care initiatives, to simply giving a voice to the cruelty of this disease.
Neale’s vision was, like so many of us in the MND community, a world free of MND. Through his work with FightMND, over $117 million has been raised for research into MND, with hopes of finding a cure.
Until the day arrives where we have a cure, MND Victoria will continue doing what we’ve done for 45 years: providing the best possible care and support to all Victorians living with MND.
Vale Neale Daniher AO. He was, and will remain, a fighter and inspiration for this community.
