Paul has been living with MND for 30 years, and used a laptop computer and a gyroscopic head mouse with an onscreen keyboard to type and share this poem.
He stays connected, researches, types and emails to help others.
I could get enough exercise
every morning -
Airing my opinions
Belting down the corridor
Cruising for a bruising
Dodging my duties
every afternoon -
Evading my responsibilities
Flying off the handle
Getting annoyed
Hurling insults
and every evening -
Imbibing anything alcoholic
Jumping to conclusions
Kicking heads
Leaving a mess
But I try to resist all those tempting impulses
and instead –
exercise my best efforts to
Make other hearts merry
Nurture the needy
Own up when wrong
Promote peaceful life
Quote the right verses
Rush to help the falling
Speak up for the truth
Tell no lies
Urge acceptance of God's promises
Volunteer to help
Watch my language
Xert a good influence
Yes to only moral ideas
Zealously live my beliefs
- A more difficult but rewarded exercise program
