MND Week

MND Week is recognised throughout Australia in the third week of June. MND Victoria, together with MND Australia and all the other MND State Associations, undertake a variety of media, fundraising and awareness activities to raise community recognition and understanding of the disease.

This year, MND Week will be held from Monday 19th June to Sunday 25th June 2023.

MND Victoria undertakes a number of activities to help raise awareness of the condition and we encourage all members of the MND Community to participate however they can.

This is a time when people living with MND, those who have lost someone to MND, carers, researchers, staff and volunteers can come together and reflect on their journey in a caring and supportive environment.

MND Global Day

June 21 every year is MND/ALS Global Awareness Day. MND/ALS Associations across the world use the day to raise awareness of the disease to the general public.

The day is also used to express hope that one day there will be a turning point in the search for cause, treatment and cure of this disease.

Increasingly, the international MND/ALS community is seeking ways to work together to try to capture the attention of the public media to increase their reach.

Get Involved with MND Global Day

We'd love you to get involved in MND Global Awareness Day!

You could host an event at your sporting club, a BBQ or sell our merchandise at your local shopping centre.

Blue Cornflower Day

Blue Cornflower Day is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the hundreds of Victorians impacted by MND.

The blue cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is the symbol of hope for MND around the world because of its fragile appearance but hardy nature. Like the cornflower, people living with MND show remarkable strength in coping with this devastating disease.

Blue Cornflower Day is held on the Friday of MND Awareness Week and is the perfect time to hold a blue themed event or sell MND merchandise. This year, it will be on Friday 23 June 2023.

MND Victoria has a number of educational resources and merchandise available to help your Blue Cornflower Day event be educational and fun. Please contact us by calling 03 9830 2122 or emailing community@mnd.org.au to discuss your event or to order merchandise.

March of Faces Banners

The March of Faces Banners is a photographic display of men and women with motor neurone disease. The world project was initiated in July 1997 as an advocacy and awareness tool. In 2001, the March of Faces banner project was introduced to Australia by Jackie Williams, an MND Association member.

The MND Victoria March of Faces banners are displayed at various MND awareness raising and remembrance events throughout the year.
