HayesHills Family is fundraising for
As a friend, I am appealing to you to join the ‘Ken Hills All Stars’ Team and purchase a ‘Jump Ticket’ to secure your slot on a virtual 500 Way as a way of supporting Sionainn, Ellis and I as we embark on the Three Peaks Challenge for MND Victoria in October 2021. We are hoping we can raise some significant dollars for ongoing research into MND - Motor Neurone Disease, a rare, progressive, degenerative, neurological condition with no known cure. MND Victoria provides vital care and support to the 440+ Victorians currently living with MND. Why this fundraiser, why now? For some of you this information will come as a shock and I apologise for that. I have tried to speak with as many people personally when the opportunity has arisen, so if I have missed you it has been a busy time and I know you will understand. The very sad news is that Ken has MND/FDT (Motor Neurone Disease/Fronto Temporal Dementia). The diagnosis has come after spending the better part of 2020 at specialists and hospital visits to get to the bottom of things. Ken has a slower type of MND known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and is doing ok. I will not deny that it has been a difficult time but early on Ken and I discussed wanting to do something positive to make a difference - Ken always wants to be useful. We have been well supported by MND Victoria to date and feel that this is an opportunity to do something constructive out of this challenging situation. So how is Ken doing? Although Ken had to retire early last year, he is volunteering at the local golf course in Churchill. He continues to play (some days better than others) and is always up for a chat to tell a skydiving story. Ken’s not using FB but is happy to hear from friends. Please PM me, I will be happy to pass on his contact details. Why the virtual 500 Big Way? Ken was a Silver Medallist on the Australian Team in 1975 in the 10 Man Speed Star event. In 1988 he supported the CRW Team who won Gold at the World Meet
