2021 MND Victoria Health Professionals Webinar Series Recordings

The MND Victoria Health Professionals Webinar Series provides an overview of a variety of topics relevant for those health professionals working with people living with MND. It is also suitable for those wanting to increase their knowledge on MND.

By registering for this event access will be provided to all five of the 2021 Health Professionals Webinar recordings. Topics include:

Webinar 1: 'MND 101' with Neurologist Lauren Giles. Topics included MND, diagnosis, phenotypes, the role of the neurologist, treatment (including Riluzole and current trials) and information on the MND Clinic.

Webinar 2: 'OT & MND' with Occupational Therapist, Sarah Solomon. Topics included the OT role working with people living with MND, equipment, customised assistive technology, helpful resources and updates on the MND Victoria Equipment Service. 

Webinar 3: 'MND & the NDIS' with occupational therapist Mimi Churchill (Thanks to Geraldine Occupational Therapy) and MND Advisor/ Support Coordinator Emma Forsyth (MND Association). Topics included getting the most from NDIS reports and applications when working with people living with MND, tailoring an NDIS plan to suit the needs of people living with MND and collaboration between health professionals and the MND Support Coordinator. 

Webinar 4: 'MND & Respiratory Considerations' with Nicole Sheers, a respiratory physiotherapist from the Victorian Respiratory Support Service (VRSS). The presentation covers information for all health care professionals on working with someone living with MND experiencing changes with their respiration, assistive technology and management strategies to consider.

Webinar 5: 'MND & Communication' with Erin Tibbitts, a speech pathologist from Calvary Health Care Bethlehem. Topics included the impact of MND on communication, strategies to communicate at different stages of MND symptoms and assistive technology to promote communication for people living with MND. 

The link to the recordings will be provided after registration and emailed to the registrant. Access to the recordings will be available until Monday 28th February, 2022.
