National MND Respiratory Physiotherapy Upskill Workshop 2025

Supporting ventilation and prescribing airway clearance

Welcome to our specialised course designed to deepen your understanding and enhance your skills in supporting ventilation and managing airway clearance in individuals with MND across their disease progression. This course is open to all physiotherapists with an interest in supporting people and their families / carers navigating MND. This national course is facilitated by physiotherapists of the ReSPiCoND* collaborative, with funding from FightMND and sponsors, and coordination by MND Victoria. 

 *Respiratory Physiotherapy in Complex NeuroDisability.

Date: Monday 2nd June 2025

Location: St Lukes Launceston, 93 Cimitiere Street, Launceston, TAS 7250

Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm

Registrations open at 8:30am, with the course beginning at 9:00am.

Learning outcomes:
  • To build community therapists’ roles and skills in the management of respiratory needs of people living with MND across their disease course.
  • To develop / consolidate skills in the assessment and prescription of airway clearance adjuncts.
Course inclusions:
  • Teas and lunch will be provided.
  • The trainer will provide the following equipment:
    • Lung volume recruitment kit
    • RMST devices
    • MI-E cough assist
    • Nebuliser
    • Humidifier
    • Portable suction machine

Please note: the $100 ticket price includes teas, lunch and equipment to keep (LVR, RMST & MIE circuit) 

What to bring:
  • Stethoscope
  • +/- Finger Probe O2 Sats Monitor
  • +/- Peak Flow Meter
  • +/- Spirometer
