Webinar 2: Balancing Dignity of Risk and Ethical Decision-Making: Supporting Client Autonomy

(27 May, 2pm-3.30pm AEST)

This session explores the practical and ethical dimensions of supporting client autonomy through dignity of risk. Allied health practitioners will gain insights into balancing safety with client choice, focusing on real-world scenarios such as risk feeding, supporting safer smoking, and transferring without assistance. The presentation will address ethical and legal considerations, offering practical strategies to respect client rights, promote informed decision-making, and navigate complex care situations.

Webinar 3: Staying connected: Digital Technology Access Solutions for People Living with MND

(29 July, 2pm-3.30pm AEST)

In this presentation, we will explore digital technology and the vital role it plays in keeping people connected. As MND progresses, the ability to communicate, access information, manage their affairs and maintain independence becomes increasingly difficult. However, digital technology solutions play a pivotal role in assisting individuals to stay connected to their loved ones, healthcare teams, and wider communities. We will share case studies and strategies demonstrating a range of mainstream and specialised solutions that support access, communication, and social inclusion.

Webinar 4: The Future of MND: Clinical trials and advancements in technology (18 September, 2pm-3:3pm AEST)

Hear from experts in the field of MND research as they discuss the current and evolving landscape of MND and what’s on the horizon in terms of clinical trials and advancements in technology

Webinar 5: Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD): The process and considerations for Allied Health Professionals

(20 November, 2pm-3:30pm AEDT)

Each State has slight differences in the VAD approval process, but the actual mechanism of VAD is the same nationwide. This presentation will explore the VAD process and provide information for health professionals on their role and limitations in the VAD process. The session will also include the lived experience perspective from people who have had direct experience with VAD and their practical takeaways that may help improve health professionals’ ability to support people considering the VAD process.
